Slate Roof Restoration Project, process steps, as shown in this video:
Existing copper gusset/valley wrongly fabricated, copper solder joints failed due to improper design, causing serious leak requiring replacement
Slate is removed and stockpiled preparing for copper restoration
Copper removed and wood roof deck inspected for repairs
New wood decking installed
New underlayment installed. Note how underlayment turns up adjoining slope area to provide permanent waterproof connection with adjoining slate roof.
New copper standing seam roof panels, new copper flange extending under slate roof, new slate underlayment
Finished product – slates reinstalled, brass snowguards clamped to seams to prevent avalanching snow and damage on the ground.
